Comparing tests in adults with advanced respiratory diseases
With the rise in platforms supporting telerehabilitation and restrictions imposed due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, physiotherapists are exploring assessment options which can be delivered remotely and with minimal time commitment.
This research compared cardiorespiratory and symptom responses measured in adults with advanced respiratory disease during the six-minute walk test against the one-minute sit-to-stand test, which has gained popularity in recent times.
The research concluded that the one-minute sit-to-stand test is not helpful when prescribing walking-based exercise and that the six-minute walk test should continue to be used to prescribe walking-based exercise for this group.
