Our research
SMHS conducts high-quality research projects at state, national and international level across all its hospitals and community health sites.
We believe in embedding research into clinical care by encouraging our staff to be curious and ask questions about how we can do things better, which can then lead to a formal research proposal. These collaborative projects often involve multi-disciplinary teams and include investigator initiated, non-commercial and commercial clinical trials (Phase I to IV), as well as non-clinical trials such as qualitative projects.
Between 2013 and 2023, our positive research culture attracted $22 million of research funding, consisting of $13 million in grant funding and $9 million in fellowship funding. At the end of 2023, there were 851 active research projects across SMHS.
See how our positive, inclusive and collaborative research culture supports and enables high quality research.
