South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS) is set to attend the New Zealand Healthcare Job Fair in Auckland on Saturday 24 August to promote a number of current medical, nursing and midwifery, allied health and mental health opportunities.
If you are a New Zealand-based healthcare professional interested in living and working in Western Australia (WA), come along and meet us in person to learn more about what is on offer.

We are currently recruiting for the following roles:
- junior doctors – all areas
- emergency department consultants
- clinical psychologists
- neuropsychologists
- older adult psychiatrists
- youth psychiatrists
- addiction specialists
- nuclear medicine technicians
- sonographers
- clinical perfusionists
- midwives
- nursing roles including:
- mental health registered and clinical nurses (for May 2025)
- intensive care and critical care unit registered nurses
- theatre registered nurses
- general medicine and surgical registered nurses
- emergency department nurses – registered and clinical nurses
- acute medical unit and medical high dependency unit nurses.

Visas
New Zealand citizens with a valid New Zealand passport do not need to apply for a visa before coming to Australia. If you are eligible, you will be granted a Special Category visa (subclass 444) (SCV) when you enter Australia. The SCV is a temporary visa. It allows you to visit, study, stay and work.
For non-New Zealand citizens and passport holders you must hold a valid work visa for the duration of your employment. Working visas sponsorship opportunities will be available for eligible applicants. Get in contact with us to see if you are eligible.
Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
For you to work in Australia as a health practitioner you must be eligible to be registered with the Australian Heath Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
