Adult mental health (18-65 years)
Fiona Stanley Fremantle Hospital Group (FSFHG) provides mental health services to youth, adults and older adults.
Some services are only available to consumers in the FSFHG mental health catchment. Other services are available to consumers across the broader South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS) mental health catchment. The SMHS mental health catchment map (PDF 262KB) lists suburbs in the FSFHG and SMHS catchments. Some services are also available to consumers from across Western Australia.
Mental health services for adults aged 18 – 65 years include:
- a 24/7 Mental Health Liaison Service for consumers with mental health issues attending the Fiona Stanley Hospital Emergency Department with or without referral
- an Assessment and Treatment Team (ATT) which is the first point of access to our inpatient and community mental health services
- an adult Home Treatment Team which provides high level, hospital standard mental health care daily at home as an alternative to going to or staying in hospital
- community mental health services providing multidisciplinary, recovery-focused care in the community
- short-term inpatient care and treatment during an acute phase of mental illness
- an 8-bed Mother and Baby Unit treating women for mental health issues such as depression, anxiety or psychosis in late pregnancy and during the postnatal period
- a 7 day a week Addiction Prevention and Treatment Service Outpatient Clinic, including gaming addiction clinic
- an Aboriginal Mental Health Liaison service for Fremantle Hospital mental health consumers.
Youth mental health patients may also be referred to the Kara Maar Specialist Community Eating Disorder Service. This service is coordinated by South Metropolitan Health Service and provides comprehensive clinical assessment and treatment for individuals aged 16 years and over who have a diagnosed eating disorder.
